Plane and Flock of Sheep - 5 piastre

This airmail stamp visualizes the coexistence of Syria's traditional pastoral economy and its twentieth-century technological evolution. The illustration captures a flock of sheep grazing peacefully in a rural landscape punctuated by native trees and rolling hills, while a twin-engine transport aircraft flies steadily overhead. This juxtaposition contrasts the country's timeless livestock husbandry and agrarian roots with the speed and modernizing force of contemporary postal aviation. Flanked by stylized, vertical arabesque borders that reflect traditional Syrian textile and decorative patterns, the "Poste Aérienne" issue communicates a theme of harmonized development, bridging the nation's natural geography and rural identity with technological advancement.
